Summer 2019 Portfolio Prep Camp - Creation, Enchancement, Review, Documentaion

Get a leg up with your art portfolio in this intensive one week workshop. Designed for late high school students who are looking to polish and add to their current art portfolios for college submission. The workshop will provide feedback on current portfolio work, thoughts on ways to improve, as well as guided lessons to create new work to add to your portfolio. Workshop is focused on observational drawing and painting, and will cover the application of color theory, measuring for proportions, and composition.  The workshop will include a demo on photographing artwork, allowing students to document their artwork in a professional manner for college submission. This workshop is designed to be completed in one week, but students are welcome to register for an additional week if needed.

Workshop dates are as follows:

One week sessions, June 3rd - 6th and June 10th - 13th

Mon. - Thurs. 8am - 3pm with a break for lunch

Workshop Fee: $300 plus cost of materials

Students will be asked to provide most of their own supplies. A list of necessary equipment and other class requirements will be provided upon registration.

Rob Nichols is an artist and art educator. He received his MFA in painting at the Laguna College of Art and Design in 2015. Since then he has taught at Idyllwild Arts Academy, Art Division, and the Orange County School of the Arts He currently teaches drawing and painting at an art college in Los Angeles, also serving on the portfolio review board and as an academic mentor at this school. When not teaching or in the studio, he is a bedside volunteer in the oncology ward of the Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
